PRESCRIPTION LENS
HARD RESIN (Plastic)
Conventional hard resin lenses are half the weight of glass lenses,
more impact resistant than glass, and can be tinted any color. They
scratch more easily than glass, but can have scratch protection
applied.
LIGHTER, THINNER LENSES (Hi-Index)
Stronger lens powers are most attractive in mid-index or hi-index
lenses because they are thinner. Various degrees of thinness are
available, from 1.55 to 1.71 (the higher number being the thinnest).
These lenses are light in weight, absorb harmful UV light, and can
be tinted any color.
PROGRESSIVES (No Line Bifocals)
These lenses offer multiple focusing areas, which blend together
gradually, so that the wearer can naturally go from one focal area
to the other, much like a zoom lens in a camera. Progressives have
the cosmetic advantage of appearing to be a single vision lens.
They are fast becoming the lens of choice for not only the "Boomer"
generation, but also for those currently wearing bifocals or trifocals.
Fuji carries well-known brands such as Nikon, Seiko, and Zeiss.
SUNGLASSES LENS
POLARIZED LENS
It starts 93 million miles away with the sun belting out unimaginable
amounts of light---visible, ultraviolet and infrared. Here at home,
the light bounces off the water and suddenly, we have glare. Eyestrain
and washed-out colors for constant, nagging problems, even when
fishing on overcast days. Polarization is the solution. The polarization
lens design results in amazingly clear, sharp, and glare free vision.
They provide the ability to see objects more clearly as glare is
eliminated. The waterproof coatings of the polarized lenses shed
water and snow to make cleaning a snap.
POLYCARBONATE LENS
Polycarbonate lenses are some of the thinnest and lightest available
- with the bonus of the best impact resistance of any lens material.
Besides its light-weight, it is the safest lens ever for your eyes.
Since the same material used in polycarbonate lenses is found in
helmet visors worn by astronauts during space travel and shields
carried by riot police, the exceptional protection provided by polycarbonate
lenses has made these tough lenses the only choice for your eyewear.
LENS TREATMENTS
SCRATCH PROTECTION COATING
Special coatings can protect plastic lenses from normal scratching.
The modest additional cost is usually a prudent investment. Most
premium plastic and hi-index lenses come with scratch coating already
applied by the manufacturer.
ANTI-REFLECTION COATING (AR)
This coating is much like those used for fine camera lenses. It
is effective for reducing eye fatigue caused by distracting reflections
off eyeglass lenses. It is helpful for anyone frequently using a
computer and in reducing reflections of lights at night. This coating
also makes lenses look invisible by reducing front surface lens
reflections.
